Gravida 1

This drawing comes from an ongoing interest in subsumption and latent-space evocations. Here an insect-like thing protects an egg as it perhaps harvests from its surrounding milieu of body parts amidst nutrient soup. It was inspired by genAI visual prompts of NICU Pump and a previous genAI image of a participant interacting with an Attendant installation, and by the text prompt "pregnant human insect." Gravida 1 refers to this mother's first pregnancy and points toward future iterations, depicted in the many limbs swirling around, begging the question of what will be hatched.
