Aileen, 2009

The day Aileen Wournos was executed (October 9, 2002) I saw her image online. I was mesmerized by the striking difference between the two sides of her face: one psychotically deranged, the other evincing a deep sadness. I was compelled to draw her that night. I have trouble looking at it now.

After I sold this piece, it was given away by the owner as she was going nomadic. The subsequent owner lost it when his house flooded.
